Why should you back up Azure storage? Microsoft arranges all this for me, right? For the sake of argument, we assume that you store your backup data with Microsoft in Azure storage. If you have active data or VMs there, you should definitely take an (extra) backup.

Azure storage has the following options:

LR => RAID-like storage in 1 data center
ZR => RAID-like storage in 1 Data center but with multiple copies
GR => RAID-like storage in 2 data centers, now also with multiple copies

If you simply purchase LR and take a backup with us, you have in principle arranged GR with 2 different providers at 2 physically separate locations on 2 different types of servers. In other words, better security for your data. You also exclude Microsoft yourself as a risk factor.

The costs are considerably lower because.

LR 1 TB costs € 52 p / m
ZR 1 TB costs € 65 p / m
GR 1 TB costs € 87 p / m

And with us, a backup of this data costs only € 4,- per TB p/m

You can still consider ZR in combination with a backup subscription with us instead of LR, the difference between LR and ZR is not that big.

Even if you purchase RA GRS € 112 per TB per month, it is of course recommended to purchase this extra security for only € 4,- per TB p/m.

Then a nice extra: When you take out a subscription with us, the OBM license is included, you can choose to run the Azure backup job on our server (client less), but you also have the option of Run OBM software on your server, for example. The OBM client is the extended client so you can basically backup everything with it, such as the fileserver, NAS, Exchange, SQL or Office 365 mailboxes etc.
