Why should you backup Google storage? Google does all this for me, right? For the sake of argument, we assume that you save your backup data with Google. If you have active data or VMs there, you should definitely take an (extra) backup.

We have a lot of trouble figuring out how Google stores data and how it is arranged. So we assume that you would like to have your backup data in 2 geographically separated locations. Google Files has the option to put the data in the following location “EUROPE-WEST4”, which is in the Google Data Center in Eemshaven. There is no further option to duplicate this data elsewhere in the Netherlands, but in Europe. The cost of file storage is between $ 22 and $ 33 per TB, so if you want to put 1 TB in 2 locations with Google file storage, 1 of which is abroad, you will spent between $ 44 and $ 66 per TB. Network costs are added to this.

What you can do using Google storage is the following:

You take the desired data from Google file storage and store it in location “EUROPE-WEST4”, you will then spent between $ 22 and $ 33 per TB. In addition, the network costs.

Then you take a subscription with us and you place a copy of the data from Google with us, the costs with us are € 9.- for the basic subscription including 1 TB of data. Extra data(1TB) costs € 4,- p/m. There are no network costs with us.

In this way it will cost you less money and perhaps the most important: You also exclude Google as a risk factor, you have transferred your backup data to 2 different companies at 2 different locations on 2 different types of servers.

Then a nice extra: When you take out a subscription with us, it includes the OBM license, you can choose to run the Google backup job on our server (Client less), but you also have the option of Run OBM software on your server, for example. The OBM client is the extended client so you can basically backup everything with it, such as the fileserver, NAS, Exchange, SQL or Office 365 mailboxes etc.
